Skin
I was struck the other day by a commercial for facial cosmetics from one of the big companies in that field. It was fashion-focused, of course, but what really impressed me was the palate of colors that they showed covering almost shade of face color. What that got me thinking was how we could show that spectrum more often so as to emphasize that the only difference between and among all of us is a choice of pigments. It just seems like a really interesting opportunity to spread out colors not just as different faces, but on a continuum demonstrating just how close we all are?

Not enough discussion about how we have drawn lines between public and private spaces, those lines change and we have carved out, as a country, an area of publicly conducted activities where limitations and on rights is part of the process. We would be better served to approach this from that perspective.
