How can anyting be more sacred to American values than is the assurance we believed we all had that we would never, ever, be held by the government without right to a lawyer and a judge? To see even one federal judge seemingly ignore that principle is nothing short of sickening.
I, and this New York Times editorial, can only hope and pray an appellate court will protect that which we have cherished so strongly. It is part of what makes us America.
